The most dangerous BB gun…

I’ve grown up around guns, been privy to all sorts of shooting,
but this weekend I procured by far the most dangerous bb gun I’ve
ever seen.

It’s a Walther PPK replica (James Bond’s old gun). It sports a metal
slide, composite frame, and the slide blows back after each shot.
Firing it feels just like a little .22 semi-auto pistol.

In and of itself, it is a nice little CO2 semi-auto bb gun. The
dangerous part: I modified it to “Slam fire”. By disassembling the
action and a little spacer behind the firing pin, you can make it so
that every time the slide comes forward the CO2 valve actuates.

The result is the ability to fire 15 shots @400fps in just over
1 second. The drawback: “Slam Firing” removes the normal requirement
of actually pulling the trigger :) Once it starts firing, it doesn’t
stop until the clip is empty.

Or, as my dad found out, if you pull back the slide (with safety on)
and let it go, it will go into full auto mode.

As cool as it is, I think it might be a little too dangerous. It may
be that I’m finally getting old enough to take heed to that gut feeling
that I’m going to seriously injure myself.

Then again, it could just be the realization that at that rate of fire,
any accident will result in multiple gunshot wounds…
