Welcome!
June 20th, 2007As the founder and CEO of Terra Soft, I seek balance between that which is motivated by our corporate drive and that which is simply for me, in all aspects of my life, including my professional and creative writing. As I write about technology as an integral component of my work, I desire within this forum to explore topics of interest outside firmware, boot loaders, high speed interconnect fabrics, and game boxes that double as a home computer.
A few years ago I wrote a short-lived column for ECT News (see category “MacNewsWorld”, right column), a weekly piece that discussed the human aspect of technology; how we as social, emotional and spiritual creatures incorporate rapidly evolving technology into our daily lives. I did not approach this from the traditional view that technology saves time (a century old myth that perpetuates today) nor improves the quality of our lives (this too is arguable in particular arenas), but instead looked at how we engage each other through the use of modern devices and how this interaction shapes our sense of self and others, both locally and globally.
This aspect of our modern existence is of great interest to me.
I also enjoy telling stories. Stories from the road as I combine business trips with rock climbing, camping, and running rivers. Stories of simple, daily pleasures and aggrevations. Stories from the intensely stimulating expression of humanity in San Francisco to the calm, cool nights and razor sharp boulders of Joshua Tree; from long days at our head quarters in Loveland, Colorado to weekends in the foothills of Rockies, Moab, and the desert of the Southwest. You may also learn of my recent time in Nakuru, Kenya where I volunteered for a month to complete critical projects for an orphanage and academy called Pistis.
I appreciate your interest in my personal blog and those of my employees, associates, and customers. I do hope you will find this forum enjoyable and worthy of a routine, return visit.
Thank you!
